Additional
Background Information
All organisational
reviews or change programmes will, without exception, show
that some or all of the people working in the organisation
have training and development needs. These have to be dealt
with if change for the better is to be brought about successfully.
A proportion of employee development needs may require formal
training at a substantial cost to the organisation, especially
if it is done externally. Teaching managers the basic skills
of training will reduce that cost whilst improving the overall
effectiveness of what is delivered. Coaching on-the-job is
even more cost-effective. Managers and supervisors could quickly
and economically deal with a substantial proportion of staff
development needs, if they have the skills needed to coach
others. This workshop is designed to help people improve the
knowledge and skills of others at very little cost compared
to formal training courses. It shows how they can use skills
that already exist within a few individuals plus what is known
about adult learning, to improve the skill base of the whole
organisation. This coaching and training is linked to performance
appraisals where the benefits of the trainng and the improvement
in the individual can be discussed and monitored.
